I Don’t Want To Swim
2022
I Don't Want to Swim is an illustration project highlighting Camberwell's potential flooding risk. In response, I created an eight-page charcoal comic and model of the main character featuring real locations I’ve observed in Camberwell. Through imagined future scenarios, I depict the challenges the next generation might face—business closures, boarded-up shops, rising tensions, blame, and the devastating loss of homes—reflecting the harsh realities of those affected by flooding.
By tapping into the reader’s emotions, I aim to evoke a strong response and leave a lasting impression. If my work encourages people to explore preventative measures, then my design has fulfilled its purpose.

I created a floating, almost dystopian island based on the area I encountered during my walk. I intentionally excluded any signs of nature, keeping the focus on the natural disaster itself. This initial piece, drawn in pencil and fine liners, became the foundation for further exploration of my interpretation of Camberwell.
